Lots of decent works, none is good enough for me. If I really needed to choose, I'd probably go for Hachimitsu to Clover as with all its flaws it can still be nice at times.

Anime of the Year 2004-III Summer - Gantz 2nd Stage
Turns out I criticized everything too much this season, and Gantz 2nd Stage comes out as the only candidate
Anime of the Year 2004-II Spring - Gantz
Gantz is the anime I truly love with all its weak sides. Samurai Champloo and Appleseed (Movie) should be noticed as well.
