Skip Beat! was the only noticeable dorama for me this season, a minor masterpiece, too.

Skip Beat! 華麗的挑戰 (Finished 15/15)  Tags: Comedy, Romance High school graduate Gong Xi gives up her chances to go to university in order to support her childhood friend and romantic goal, Bu Po Shang, in his pop idol career. Upon arriving in Taipei, Gong Xi starts working on multiple jobs in order to support Bu Po Shang, whose popularity quickly rises, eventually becoming one of the top idols in Taiwan. One day, Gong Xi catches Bu Po Shang flirting with his manager and learns that he only used her so she can help him with his living expenses. Heartbroken and betrayed, Gong Xi vows to get revenge by becoming a bigger star than him. Gong Xi auditions for L.M.E., Bu Po Shang's rival talent agency, and joins L.M.E.'s new-found department, "Love Me". At L.M.E., Gong Xi meets famous actor Dun Helian, who eventually falls in love with her. It's rare for me to admit it, but I liked live version more than anime, probably because of really good actor choice of main heroine and her main rival. It's based on manga, so has enough material in multiple arcs to not repeat or dull down. Can't fully enjoy such shoujo romance, but even I can see it's good and luckily not reverse harem as it might look like. Overall Rating: 7/10 |

A story about people, relationships and love. Police occupation and unusual main characters make it above average, but overall I'm too tired of Korean same playful romance with only slight variations. They fall in love with each other and live together. One day, Chompooprae, Fahlada's adopted sister saw her sister's picture in the tourist magazine, so she sends people to take Fahlada back. Chompooprae needs Fahlada in order for her to succeed in her adopted family's business. Chompooprae hires Yasa and his men to bring Fahlada back even though she fights to stay with Saichon. Saichon gets shot and has to recover all by himself. Fahlada gets shock therapy treatment until she regains her memories, but she loses her memories about Saichon and everything during the time that she was missing on Min Island. Chompooprae lies to her sister and doesn't tell her anything about Min island. When Saichon awakens, he is devastated to learn that his Nang Fah is gone. He decides to go to Bangkok to look for her. Many years later, Saichon comes back from America to take care of the airline company in Thailand. He meets Chompooprae because she's the business partner he needs to work with. Chompooprae falls in love with him at first sight even though she is already engaged to P'Mor. So, she introduces him to her sister. Saichon is surprised and very glad when he meets Fahlada again. However, he is very hurt and angry because Fahlada doesn't remember him at all. Another lakorn and all my thoughts about it circle around just the same world again - "primitiveness". Eun Chae Young is an experienced actress, having been in the industry for 10 years. However, she has the desire to prove herself on the musical stage, rather than a movie actress with a pretty face. What she doesn't expect is to be challenged by Oh Doo Ri, an equally talented actress who prefers to spend her time playing first-person shooting computer games than rehearsing. These young adults end up together in the musical department of Haneul Arts University and find themselves under the guidance of unconventional professor Sunwoo Young. With each passing day, they get a chance to learn what it is to be a 'star,' and to prove to the people around them that they can succeed in their chosen path. Oh, well. Since I watched it to the middle, can confirm it's fine. As expected, focus is on stories of many students. But there were quite more students in focus than expected, plus teachers stories started to be told as well. Some of those stories were ok, some cringy and strange. Musical was remembered rarely, to be honest. In the end when things settled I realized that I was not enjoying it and that it was not worth masterpiece score despite being a lot better than Dream High. Overall Rating: 6/10 |

Ddol Bok returns to the palace under the name of Kang Chae Yun in order to kill the king. However, he becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the deaths of several Hall of Worthies scholars. The deaths were caused by a secret society called "Hidden Root", which was created long ago by followers of Jung Do Jeon, with the goal of giving more power to ministers and less to the king. King Tae Jong killed Jung Do Jeon and all of his family except his nephew, Jung Gi Jun, who is now the leader of Hidden Root and lives in disguise not far from King Se Jong. Pimnareumon and Rawipaat of the separate feuding farms like each other but must guard their hearts. As Nichamon gets thrown into the mix, she starts to help Paat’s and Nammon’s love along with investigating about her grandmother but Thut proves to be the biggest road block. She goes off to interview for an internship at a company, which of course belongs to Saht Wanajak. Saht is the CEO of Wanajak Group and meets Pleng by almost running over her. There is also a ghost thrown in the story. It is the ghost of Saht's grandfather who refuses to move on because he can't stand to see his grandson being a playboy and scares off all the gold diggers he dates. The grandfather of course meets Pleng and she is the only human to be able to see him. He likes her and wants her to be his granddaughter-in-law. Grandfather Wanajak helps Pleng pass the interview and Saht meets Pleng and finds her to be very odd and is intrigued by her. He then asks her to be his pretend girlfriend to escape from super gold digger Mook. Long story short, they fall in love but of course, there are obstacles like Mook, Pleng's long list of admirers and a mafia boss too. So there's a ghost to spice up typical lakorn stupidity and simplicity. Needless to say, it does not help. Overall Rating: 5/10 |

But can Mita get over the pains of her own past to truly be a mother to them? Another fine Japanese series, but I already see the pattern here. Each episode there's a conflict situation that is first aggravated by foolish family member action or order, then housekeeper somehow settles it. Although she wishes to spend her days peacefully, her intelligence evokes jealousy, and Ling Qi Qiao, a fellow palace maid, does her best to make her life even more difficult. Following the death of Emperor Ying Zong, the Crown Prince's ascension to the throne as Emperor Xian Zong marks the beginning of a conflict between women in the Royal Harem. Usual palace intrigues stuff, but stayed a bit since there were so many deaths from the start. In the end it's illogical and unrealistic like there's a witness of eunuch poisoning food and then possibly faking suicide of another person, but everyone just shrugs the fact of serial killer walking beside emperor in the spirit of "it must be the wind". I did not even give masterpiece to The Apothecary Diaries which was much more thought through than this mess. Overall Rating: 6/10 |

She didn't have sex with any boy before she fell in love with one colleague. Saki is a beautiful and prideful girl. She hopes to be a journalist but she doesn't realize her dream. So she has to be a hostess in a bar to help support her family. She tells her family members that she was working in a large publisher house and earned a lot of money every month. She has met a kind and helpful man who is married and fallen in love with him. The core is rather rotten as concept is basically Japanese variation on Sex and the City. It's probably as good as it can be, and it's not enough. Might stay for actresses, but Saku Ogura does not get much screen time. Overall Rating: 6/10 |

One day his father checks his account book and finds that some numbers are missing. Gi Tae explains that he invested 10,000,000 won on making a movie to show in the cinema on Korean Thanksgiving Day. His father stipulates that this is the last chance for Gi Tae. Horrible retrospective adventure with same irritating as always Ahn Jae Wook. Overall Rating: 5/10 |

Fang Tian Yiwas an honest, kind, helpful and always cherished the sibling relationship more than anything else. Although he had one-sided love toward Ting Gu but he had to bury his unrequited love deep in his heart after knowing that Ting Gu liked Liao Si Cheng instead of him. Together with Liao Si Cheng, they both risked their lives to fight against the Japan’s invasion and obtained the victory in the War of Liberation with their heroic contributions. Gu Han Sen knowing that his daughter had a crush on Liao Si Cheng, decided to arrange the marriage for his daughter. However, Liao Si Cheng declined the marriage proposal, citing the war took priority over his marriage. He joined the BIS* (Bureau of Investigation and Statistics), and Ting Gu and Fang Tian Yi followed his footsteps joining the BIS too. A few years later, Liao Si Cheng received an order to lead a team to intercept the Qing (dynasty) treasures. Ting Gu and Fang Tian Yi were also part of the team. What they didn’t know was it was a conspiracy which they were already involved in without realizing it. This Republican era spy action is very unpleasant to me, so no point continuing. As the title suggests, the family also has a mysterious "11th member". He clashes with his father, an artsy photographer with no real earning power. The shy, youngest child can see a ghost (the "11th member") but doesn't tell the rest of the family. The Japanese so far are the only asians who can make complex developments out of simplest concepts like big family. Was nice to see Hirosue Ryoko finally outside her typical role of naïve girl. They were accompanied by a dogsled of 19 Sakhalin dogs. When they left for Japan a year later, they were forced to leave the dogs behind due to the bad weather. In January 1959, Kuramochi Takeshi and some others joined a third expedition to ascertain the fate of the dogs Taro and Jiro. Anniversary drama usually suck because it's usually patriotic and epic wanna be historical story. This gathers all the worst traits of anniversary drama and manages to pull some more. Ataru breaks out to save his daughter, Sasaoka Yuki, who suffers from a fatal heart condition. He’s joined by three other inmates: gangster Kawashima Ryunosuke, ex-host Takimoto Kuya, and former dispatch rider Kagami Shun. Despite their different backgrounds, they must flee together to reach Tokyo, 1,000 km away, to fulfill their personal missions and protect their loved ones. Finished it only by inertia. It's run and chase type of concept with a bit of childcare. Highly unlikely events and easily guessed outcome, so can't recommend it. Overall Rating: 6/10 |

 Tags: Historical, Drama Bok Hee is a girl who studies very hard and works at a brewery. When she was 5-years-old, her parents' divorced and Bok Hee then lived with her mother. Her father died in a coal mine accident. Bok Hee came to brewery company Dukchun with her younger stepbrother after her mother married Song Byung-Man, the owner of Dukchun. Bok Hee addresses her mother as "aunt," to avoid getting her mother into trouble. Finally, people learn that Bok Hee is the daughter. Her stepbrother is sent off to an orphanage and Bok Hee leaves for Seoul. Joon Mo worked as a stuntman, but due to injury had to quit his job and come to Dukchun to work as a temporary teacher. Joon Mo meets Bok Hee for the first time when she peers through a classroom window in which he teaches. Joon Mo sees the passion in her eyes and becomes her mentor. Typical low quality endless Korean SOL. It's especially strange that both first episodes had family rage moments when quarrel was so massive that ppl started wrecking the room in an attempt to calm it down... Overall Rating: 5/10 |

During a mountaineering trip, the four are stranded on a snow bound mountain and out of desperation Ka Ming is killed and eaten by the other three. This event has a traumatic effect on them, their friendship, and their friendship with Yan (Charmaine Sheh), Ka Ming's girl friend, leading the previously close group to go their separate ways. His grandma has betrothed Wei Xiang when he was still in the womb to the granddaughter of the man who saved her life, and grandma has been dreaming of the day her grandson can fulfill her promise. Wei Xiang is the reverse of the haughty, cold, and rude chaebol. He’s instead very considerate and kind, and he doesn’t have the heart to say no to his grandma’s lifelong dream. The heroine Song Yi Jie is a legal assistant at a law firm who is in the process of obtaining her lawyer’s license. She’s a righteous young woman who believes in standing up for justice and doesn’t care for love when she’s got a career to pursue. Episode 1 has Yi Jie and Wei Xiang meeting cute when she pretends to be the lover of a sleazy man so that his wife can obtain the evidence to force him sign divorce papers. On her way to the rendezvous, she chances upon a woman tearfully accusing Wei Xiang of breaking her heart (but in truth the woman is his daft subordinate). Wei Xiang thinks Yi Jie is a “Xiao San” (homewrecker) while Yi Jie mistakes Wei Xiang for a lothario who toys with women. Typical romance in Korean style which is horrible. Overall Rating: 5/10 |

This starts the emotional tellings of the life in the Great Northern Wilderness Corps in the early 1970s. Boring rural adventures, but even this is above average for artificial Korean plots.
