Dorama of the Year 2010-II Spring - Tetsu no Hone (2010)

In the lack of masterpieces the only work I'd recommend is Tetsu no Hone (2010)

1. Shinzanmono  [新参者] (Finished 2/10) Tags: Thriller, Mystery In the Ningyo-cho area of Nihonbashi, Tokyo - a woman was murdered. Detective Kaga Kyoichiro, who just transferred to the Nihonbashi police precinct, is placed in charge of the murder case. With virtually all the residents of Ningyo-cho's shopping street emerging as suspects, Detective Kaga must use his keen sense of deductive reasoning to uncover the truth. Can't block even detective with Hiroshi Abe and Kuroki Meisa on the cover. Two episodes is better than nothing. Concept is not bad as it's more of Colombo style with just being nice and idiot and then solving everything.   Overall Rating: 6/10

2. Ruk Nai Marn Mek  [รักในม่านเมฆ] (Finished 1/19) Tags: Romance, Drama Khun Chai and Nongsai are childhood friends. After Nongsai was diagnosed with polio leaving her unable to walk, Chai had to leave and go to America. To Nongsai, this was where their relationship ended, believing that her “p’Chai” had forgotten all about her. Years later, Chai comes back to Thailand, with his wife that he married abroad named Chomphilai. Khunying Aumporn, Chai’s mother, is quite unhappy with the fact. But after she finds out that Chom comes from a good and wealthy family, she decides to accepts her into the family. All seems well until Win, Nongsai’s father, shows up along with a legally binding agreement stating that Chai and Nongsai are to be wedded or Aphirukphuban family must pay the debt of 100 million bahts that Chai’s father had borrowed from Win. In exchange, khunying Aumporn’s diamond necklace is taken as collateral. In order to avoid paying 100 million bahts and get the diamond back, khunying Aumporn convinces Chom to divorce Chai so he can marry Nongsai. Typical lakorn.   Overall Rating: 5/10

3. Summer's Desire  [泡沫之夏] (Finished 1/14) Tags: Business, Romance, Drama, Melodrama Xia Mo and Luo Xi, both orphans adopted by the same family, share a close bond that sparks jealousy in Ou Chen, Xia Mo’s wealthy boyfriend. To break them apart, Ou Chen sends Luo Xi abroad, but this only leads to Xia Mo breaking up with him. Devastated, Ou Chen is involved in a car accident and loses his memory. Five years later, Luo Xi returns as a superstar and helps Xia Mo succeed in the entertainment industry. As their relationship flourishes, Ou Chen regains his memory and does everything he can to win Xia Mo back. This melodrama is not only typical love triangle, but it's also full of all kinds of cliche. As a deeply flawed classic for other Taiwanese works to grow from it deserves the bottom score.   Overall Rating: 5/10

4. Yankee-kun to Megane-chan  [ヤンキー君とメガネちゃん] (Finished 2/10) Tags: Comedy, Youth Daichi Shinagawa is a bona fide “yankii”, a juvenile delinquent, who attends a prep high school. In fact, his reputation as a supreme tough is so widespread that he can’t walk the street without being challenged to a fight by other would-be thugs, and nobody will come near him at school. He, therefore, spends his days isolated and alone. Until one day he is befriended by the spectacled class president, Hana Adachi. While she looks like the prototypical serious student, Hana is herself a reformed “yankii” and something of a convivial space case. Daichi soon finds himself unwittingly swept up in her world, helping people with their problems and participating passionately in school events. Together they make for an incomparable duo in this fun and free-spirited high school fable. Hybrid of Sket Dance with yanki occurences from the past. Guess I'm getting old since it's a bit too childish to me already.   Overall Rating: 6/10

5. Bad Boy [나쁜 남자 ] (Finished 3/17) Tags: Thriller, Romance, Drama, Melodrama Sim Geon Uk is a stuntman who’s secretly plotting revenge against Haeshinm Group, a large corporation to which Hong Tae Seong is the heir. As he works to destroy the family by first seducing the youngest daughter, Hong Mo Ne, he finds himself at a crossroads when Mun Jae In enters his life. Determined to correct the wrong, Geon Uk is about to risk it all and take down anyone who gets in his way. It's watchable mostly due to non-psychotic FL Han Ga In and non-repulsive ML. But do I really want to watch another melodramatic compilation of tropes and cliche? Concept is again romance relations, but this time there's a whole harem, plus revenge. And since it's all about relations, there's obligatory childhood drama, family and work circumstances, plus ofc ex-boy/girlfriends just to waste as much time as possible. This whole concept is so much worse than jdrama there's rarely two concepts that are very much alike.   Overall Rating: 6/10

6. Wiwa Wah Woon  [วิวาห์ว้าวุ่น] (Finished 1/15) Tags: Comedy, Romance A rich playboy name Pavee, is swindled into marriage by Airada, a fortune teller, for his money. If he divorces her first, he has to pay her 40 million baht ($1.2 million USD). If she can’t tolerate him and divorces him first, he doesn’t have to pay her a dime. Their marriage becomes a competition or a declaration of war, who will make the other person break first and have that person file for a divorce. Airada wants that 40 million baht, Pavee wants his freedom without losing his fortune. On the sidelines, they have their parents who want them to stay together. Then there are Mesa and Toon, a sibling pair, who want them broken up.  Typical lakorn.   Overall Rating: 5/10

7. Giant  [자이언트] (Finished 1/60) Tags: Thriller, Business, Romance, Melodrama This drama tells the story of three siblings who grew up in the 1970s. Lee Gang Mo, his older brother Seong Mo and younger sister Mi Ju were separated at a young age when their father was killed in a smuggling scheme, and their mother also died subsequently. When they are able to reunite years later, they have all reached adulthood and are determined to exact revenge upon the people responsible for their misery. Just by reading the synopsis I already suspected that story of three seperated and wronged siblings would take at least 50 episodes in kdrama... and I wish I was wrong. One more soapy revenge melodrama to dump.   Overall Rating: 5/10

8. Three Kingdoms  [三国] (Finished 5/95) Tags: Action, Military, Historical, Political During the late Eastern Han Dynasty, power, intrigue and military ambition collide as rulers, generals, and court officials vie for dominance. After so many great anime about Three Kingdoms, it needs to be at least on a similar level to have the right to exist. After anime with distinctive appearances here lots of characters look alike, so it's much more difficult to follow. But the most striking feature for me is that Cao Cao , the villain of Sangokushi anime, is main character here... so these are polar works, and I definitely choose anime.   Overall Rating: 6/10

9. Ngao Ruk Luang Jai  [เงารักลวงใจ] (Finished 1/13) Tags: Romance, Drama Ngao Ruk Luang Jai is a romance drama about two rich cousins fighting over wealth and the love of Khaohom. Thai drama have also reached love triangles, but abusive arrogant repulsive males make it unwatchable.   Overall Rating: 5/10

10. The Girl in Blue [佳期如夢] (Finished 1/32) Tags: Romance, Drama After a university student, You Jia Qi, met Meng He Ping, the two started dating. Meng He Ping's mother, however, strongly objected to their relationship. Jia Qi broke up with He Ping, and He Ping angrily went overseas. Jia Qi's friend Ruan Zheng Dong who comes from a rich family had an accident and ended up in the hospital. Jia Qi went to visit him and unexpectedly met He Ping again. It turned out that He Ping and Zheng Dong were childhood friends. To escape from the heartaches that He Ping's reappearance brought about, Jia Qi started dating Zheng Dong. Zheng Dong ended up in the hospital again due to stomach pains which turned out to be the terminal stage of gastric cancer. He decided to let He Ping and Jia Qi, the two lovers be together and secretly left. Jia Qi started to search for him. After Jia Qi finally found Zheng Dong, she told him that she had already fallen in love with him. Zheng Dong knew that he didn't have much time left and asked Jia Qi to help him retrieve back a very important property belonging to him. Artificial and impulsive, but for a Chinese series it's still a step up. Pilot episode of another love triangle did not grip me with anything at all, so no use going on.   Overall Rating: 6/10

11. Kim Soo Ro  [김수로] (Finished 1/32) Tags: Historical, Romance This drama charts the life of Kim Soo Ro, legendary founder of Geumgwan Gaya, the ruling city-state of the Gaya confederacy, which dominated sea trade and iron working during the Three Kingdoms Period. Kim Soo Ro's fiery temperament, charisma and intelligence are his only defense in the extended political struggle, with competition for the throne from his half-brother and lifelong rival, Ijinashi, his former friend Suk Tal Hae, and the dangerous ambitions of Shin Kwi Gan. Must be like fifth great merchant already. Directorship is poor here. Fiery temperament is so ill-suited for a ruler and politics in general that there can be no real depth. Low quality, credibility and interest in everything here as usual.   Overall Rating: 5/10

12. Tsuki no Koibito  [月の恋人] (Finished 2/8) Tags: Romance Hazuki Rensuke, the President of Regolith, is determined to increase his company's market share in the house furnishing business. His life takes a different turn when three women enter the picture. Just strange abusive romance that even KimuTaku can't save.   Overall Rating: 5/10

13. Dok Ruk Rim Tang [ดอกรักริมทาง] (Finished 1/29) Tags: Comedy, Romance A young woman named Anusorn's father suddenly died. Upon returning home, Anusorn finds that her father's new wife has sold the house and left her with Hungtu, the dog, as her only piece of inheritance. Anusorn becomes suspicious that something is not quite right. She tries to find out the truth and almost gets killed in the process. Pathavee, a young photographer, constantly argues with his mother Nuanjan and his older sister Pavina about Janjira, a sexy actress and a younger sister of Jitree. Nuanjan and Pavina believe that Janejira only wants Pathavee's money. As a result, they try matchmaking Pathatvee with Patcha, one of their friends' daughter. Pathavee buys the house from Jitree. Anusorn disguises herself as a boy named Ooth in order to go back to her old house to look for the truth inside the house. She becomes Pathavee's assistant. Dog is the best actor here. Just imagine how low is the bar...   Overall Rating: 5/10

14. Road Number One [로드 넘버원] (Finished 1/20) Tags: Action, Romance, Drama, War Based on the events occurring around "Route 1", which lies between Seoul and Pyongyang. The story about Officer Lee Jang Woo who finds himself in a war that he is not prepared for in order to protect Soo Yeon, the woman he has known and loved since youth. However, he is able to put it past him and he displays extraordinary survival skills, friendship, cooperation and ideology under brutal war conditions. Soo Yeon awaits Jang Woo's return, but eventually gets engaged to Tae Ho. When Jang Woo returns alive, however, Tae Ho discovers Jang Woo and Soo Yeon's unbreakable bond and feels betrayed. Whatever theme it is, kdrama remains kdrama - so just love triangle with unreasonable actions and unlikely outcomes. All I see is the usual narrow-minded pathetic imitation.   Overall Rating: 5/10

15. Wan Jai Gub Nai Jom Ying  [หวานใจกับนายจอมหยิ่ง] (Finished 1/14) Tags: Comedy, Romance, Drama Three cousins: Atsawin, Chatwin, Thotwin are heirs to a 5-star hotel, the Siamtara. Atsawin is a well-mannered businessman, who manages the marketing department for the hotel slash restaurant. He’s a good guy, calm and sincere. His only problem is love–he can’t admit his feelings to the girl he like. That could be a problem. Chatwin is the playboy of the family, who cares little for work, his likes include women and parties. His mother is pushing him into the family business so that he can inherit the hotel from his grandmother, who is the current president. Chatwin wants to work in Human Resources or Public Relations department, his ambitious mother is against it, she wants him to work in the marketing department or something higher up to get recognition from his grandmother. Then we have Thotwin, the oldest, a man with a chip on his shoulders. His father committed suicide and he feels like the black sheep in the family. He wants to make it on his own as a cook and prove himself worthy in the family. He’s a cold, serious, stern man. Now we have our 3 leading ladies, they include Jomjai, Kun, and Kaewsai. All 3 are best friends and classmates at a local university, they are majoring in Home Economics. Jomjai’s specialty is cooking, Kun is decorating and being a florist, Kaewsai is a dessert cook. For their final semester, the girls are sent to Siamtara Hotel for an internship. There, they meet the 3 heirs to the hotel. Jomjai, the adventurous cook, the rich girl of the group, the fashionable one is paired with Thotwin, the rigid man who becomes her boss. At first, they hated each other, then gradually, they develop feelings for each other. Kaewsai, the sweetheart, the modest girl, the poor girl in the group, who lives with her grandmother is paired with Chatwin, the playboy. Kaewsai is shy and Chatwin is flamboyant, that whole opposite attract concept at work again. Because of her modest upbringing, she influences Chatwin to be sincere in his work and to have goals in his life. His mother hates her because she is poor. Kun, the middle class girl, the gifted decorator and florist, the bubbly one, the one oozing with warmth is paired with Atsawin, a man who doesn’t know how to show his true feelings. The lakorn is about the 3 girls making it through their tough internship and about the 3 heirs dueling it out for the position of president of their family’s company and hotel. Atsawin opted out of being an heir to the hotel, which leaves Chatwin and Thotwin to compete among themselves.  After watchable Thai sitcom comedy they're back to square one with nothing but primitiveness.   Overall Rating: 5/10

16. Coffee House  [커피하우스] (Finished 1/18) Tags: Comedy, Romance Lee Jin Soo made it big after writing several thriller novels and establishing himself as a talented novelist. He works for Seo Eun Young, the owner of the biggest publishing company in Korea, and has a long-time friendship with her. Jin Soo has lots of fans, especially female ones, and he seems to be the perfect match for any woman... but what no one knows is that he is actually a bit weird and sarcastic, has lots of strange habits, and holds a dark secret. The one who has to cope with him and his habits is his secretary, Kang Seung Yeon, who begged him for this job to become a pro instead of the below-average girl that she really is. On top of that, there is also the return of Han Ji Won, Eun Young's ex-fiance, whom she despises. Ji Won tries to win Eun Young back, but she has her eyes set on Jin Soo. With the pilot episode silly and irritating like this can't imagine how much worse it gets.   Overall Rating: 5/10

17. Mother [マザー] (Finished 2/11) Tags: Thriller, Drama Elementary school teacher Suzuhara Nao decides to abduct Michiki Rena, one of her female students, after discovering that she is being abused by her mother. Fleeing Hokkaido to Tokyo, the two experience various events together along the way, with Nao serving as a substitute mother and Rena finally experiencing familial love for the first time. Quality is so much higher than dorama of other countries, but it's fully built around more and more tearjerkers this far , so I also can't tolerate for long.   Overall Rating: 6/10

18. The Dream of Red Mansions (2010) [红楼梦] (Finished 2/50) Tags: Historical, Romance, Drama, Family Jai Bao Yu is a male heir who grew up in a wealthy feudal clan dominated by women. His love affairs with his cousins Lin Dai Yu and Xue Bao Chai happened in the midst of his family's struggle to remain influential. I wish there was Japanese adaptation among almost 30 existing ones. It's literally chaotic palace intrigue stories with dreadful pacing in wuxia entourage. Two wasted hours are more than enough for it.   Overall Rating: 5/10

19. Hard to Say I Love You [素直になれなくて] (Finished 2/11) Tags: Romance, Drama Nakajima, aspiring to be like his war photographer father, works as a gravure magazine assistant. Mizuno, a high school teacher on probation, confides in her best friend Nishimura, whose boyfriend is avoiding her after she became pregnant. Ichihara faces coercion at his magazine job, while Park, pretending to be a doctor on Twitter, actually sells medical equipment while caring for his sister. Connected through Twitter, these five young people navigate friendship and self-discovery. I'm sure I dumped it before already some ten yers ago. It feels like they wanted to create something light and trendy for the youth, but a result it's just many non-gripping small stories joined by the same actors.   Overall Rating: 5/10

20. Calling for Love [呼叫大明星] (Finished 1/14) Tags: Comedy, Romance Bo Ye is a reluctant big star who entered the entertainment industry to support his family. Now that he has earned enough money and his contract about to end, he happily starts planning for the next stage of his life. Around the same time, unfortunate financial downturn struck his agent, his sister and his best friend. Feeling obligated to help them he contemplates on renewing his contract. Totally depressed by this thought, he buys a lotto ticket hoping that he can win the big one and save him from this dilemma. As luck would have it, he wins the jackpot but loses the ticket before he can cash it. Now he is chasing after a taxi driver, De Xing, all over town in order to get it back. Taiwanese comedies are still too unserious and weird.   Overall Rating: 5/10

21. Please Marry Me  [결혼해주세요] (Finished 1/56) Tags: Romance, Family Jung Im closes down the shop early in preparation for her father-in-law's 60th birthday. Yet, his sons and daughters are nowhere to be found, and so as her husband Tae Ho. At this hour Tae Ho is with his co-worker Suh Young, whispering loves under the curtain. Nowadays, Tae Ho has no arousal around his wife, and sees no sparks in their conversations. Suh Young, on the other hand, is a light to his dull life. As secrets can never stay sealed forever, during his sleep Tae Ho unconsciously blurts out his love towards Suh Young. After such bitter incident, Jung Im is dragged to I-dol concerts by her friend Ae Ran, and unexpectedly ends up in a fight. Soon, the press releases news about her under the title by, "the revolting vigilant fan in her thirties!" Then Jung Im's life falls apart, as Tae Ho divorces her. Yet what she had not realized is that her life could also turn towards "good" when given just the right chance. As entertainment agency's head Hyun Wook decides to turn Jung Im into a successful Cinderella, her life changes! Then one day, as Tae Ho turns on his radio he hears a voice, a familiar one. Yes, it was his ex-wife Jung Im's. What would happen next? Yet another low quality big familly narration for half hundred episodes. This time even with comedy elements. Still having no idea why watch it at all.   Overall Rating: 5/10

22. Comrades [전우] (Finished 1/20) Tags: Military, Historical, Drama, War This drama commemorates the soldiers who gave their lives in the Korean War, fought between North and South Korea between 1950 and 1953, and is designed to remind people that the heavy cost of human lives far outweigh any national glory. Lee Hyun Joong is a South Korean squad commander and war veteran who is dedicated to protecting the lives of the soldiers serving under him, despite his jaded outlook. His chance meeting with Lee Soo Kyung on the battlefield stirs memories of the past, but she is now a lieutenant of the North Korean army. People lost lives back then, and this drama commemorates them, so everyone should like it! Or something like that was what creators probably thinking. FL on the Northern Korea side already puts it in bad melodrama place. This is far from great.   Overall Rating: 5/10

23. Dosokai (2010) [同窓会] (Finished 9/9) Tags: Romance, Drama Housewife Miyazawa Tomomi, her husband out of a job, loses her treasured home as her family is forced to do with less during the recession. Her one ray of sunshine is her upcoming middle school class reunion, where she hopes to meet old friends as well as old flames. The class reunion, however, turns out to be more of turning point not only for her but for the others as well. At the party, she reunite with her old friends Sugiyama Kosuke, Nishikawa Yoko, Okubo Shinichi. Just how will these four people's lives change after their class reunion... Just attempt to visualize this symptom of childish behavior on two cases. Not particularly interesting, but really any normal varying concept is so much better than the tasteless chewing gum we're thrown at from all sides in form of Korea-China-Taiwan-Philippino-Thai-Hong Kong lately.   Overall Rating: 6/10

24. Tetsu no Hone (2010) [鉄の骨] (Finished 5/5) Tags: Business, Drama Tomishima Heita has been working at a construction company for 3 years. He has worked at construction sites but was recently transferred to the sales team. Tomishima then becomes involved in the illegal activity of bid-rigging for the company. Tomishima also finds out that his father's death was connected to bid-rigging and now he contemplates whether to become a whistleblower or protect the company he works for. I also managed to have seen it before. And it's definitely the case I've seen before in old anime, just with some modern elements now since source is from mid 2000s. The very fact that I forgot about it after makes it under masterpiece radius even though actors are solid and development is quite thrilling.   Overall Rating: 6/10

25. New Spring of Plum Blossoms [新一剪梅] (Finished 1/40) Tags: Historical, Romance, Drama The fiery Shen Xin Ci runs away from her psychopathic fiancee, Liang Yong Chang, after finding out the truth. On the way, she meets Zhao Shi Jun, who sympathizes with her and gives her some money to pay off her father's medical records. After the death of her father, Xin Ci decides to find Shi Jun and repay him for his kindness, no matter the request. For the sake of the water supply and to make peace between the two towns, Shahe Town and Wan Jia Village, Zhao Shi Jun is forced to marry Mayor Wan's daughter, Wan Qiu Ling. On the way back to her new home Qiu Ling, who has been seriously ill since childhood, falls sick but is rescued by a mysterious doctor, Liang Yong Chang. He tells her that her disease can be cured, but she won't be able to give birth to a child in the future. Desperate to keep the generation going, Qiu Ling takes Yong Chang's advice, and she drugs her husband and switches places with another girl so that the girl can get pregnant instead of her. What Liang Yong Chang didn't count on was that the other girl turns out to be his runaway fiancee, Shen Xin Ci. So now Yong Chang is out to seek revenge on Zhao Shi Jun and everyone that's in his way. Chinese republican era melodrama that makes me sick just from reading the synopsis. Too many negative emotions with this, better leave eary for the sake of mental health.   Overall Rating: 5/10

26. Troubleman  [トラブルマン] (Finished 6/12) Tags: Comedy, Crime, Supernatural A man’s sudden misfortune spirals into chaos, dragging in a yakuza on the run, a mysterious woman, an otaku with a strange ability, a memoryless hit man, and an old landlord. As shocking truths unfold among the apartment’s residents, mysteries stack upon mysteries in this fast-paced, intricately woven serious comedy. Remembered that I dropped it before too late. It's indeed about an unlucky yakuza and his crazy supernatural adventures with alike weird people. It's very random and resembles variety shows, so not to my liking.   Overall Rating: 5/10

27. Zhang Xiao Wu's Spring [张小五的春天] (Finished 1/25) Tags: Comedy, Romance, Family On her 30th birthday, Zhang Xiao Wu is "gifted" with a series of misfortunes: her fiancé leaves her for another woman, her company is on the verge of bankruptcy, her landlord kicks her out, and her relatives pester her endlessly for money. Fortunately Zhang Xiao Wu has a sunny disposition and faces all the challenges with a positive attitude, eventually finding true happiness and love It's habitual when older actors play young men and women, so when role is 30 years old actor is around 40 as here. But the main problem is that she lacks any charisma, so we have to observe crises piling over her. And ofc her reaction is to be a psycho to every situation, so it's far from pleasant or curious or anything.   Overall Rating: 5/10

28. The Legend of Yang Guifei (2010)  [杨贵妃秘史] (Finished 1/49) Tags: Historical, Romance, Drama The story revolves around how a peasant girl named Yang Yu Huan was chosen to become one of the Emperor's many concubines. As opposed to many historical dramas (usually about war or glory), this period drama is more about the romance between Yang Gui Fei and Emperor Ming of Tang. As opposed to many historical dramas that try to be interesting, this one is again just about palace intrigues and some petty romance. All for the looks and zero essence or rationality, as usual.   Overall Rating: 5/10

29. Sisters of Pearl [掌上明珠] (Finished 1/28) Tags: Drama After the death of her husband, Chu Pik Ha returns to her maiden home with her son, in a deliberate attempt to take over the family jewelry business from her elder sister Chu Pik Wan. To prevent Ha from getting too out of hand, Wan needs her husband Ho Cheung Hing to create trouble for her sibling. Hing does not follow her instructions, but instead secretly helps Ha tackle her problems one by one. Wan soon comes to realize that Hing has never really got over Ha. Wan's younger sister Chu Pik Lam is still attending school and is too young to deal with such family issues. Wan feels a profound sense of helplessness and becomes even more frustrated when So Lai Sheung turns up suddenly claiming to be a mistress of her late father and pregnant with his baby. Out of respect for their father, the sisters agree to put Sheung up for the time being until the situation becomes clearer. Shortly thereafter, Ha discovers that Sheung is just a tool of Sang guy who has been plotting to wage a battle of will against the Chu's. Started watching it blindly and instantly guessed it was a Hong Kong series by the stale primitive taste of it... it does not even deserv discussing.   Overall Rating: 5/10

30. Mom Is Pretty Too  [엄마도 예쁘다] (Finished 1/174) Tags: Romance Even mothers were girls once, and although they're no longer young, it does not mean they cannot love. This warm family drama tells the story of Lee Soon Jin, a mother who raised her four children without a husband and single-handedly ran a restaurant to support their monetary needs Feels like Koreans are constantly searching for ways in order to make their soap operas even worse than the ground level. Just when you think there no way to drop lower...   Overall Rating: 5/10

31. Ghost Writer [蒲松齡] (Finished 1/25) Tags: Action, Historical, Romance, Supernatural Po Chung Ling was born in Jinan a family of New Year print. He is very bright, his father, Po Poon, has therefore always hoped that he could one day carry on the family business. Ling, mistakenly thinks that Poon is working in collusion with some corrupt officials, refuses to listen to what his father says. His good friend, Ko Jit, is a constable and he hates corrupt officials as much as Ling does. Rumor has it that a fox spirit is creating troubles in Jinan. Ling is almost killed when he is investigating into the matter with Jit. Fortunately, a mysterious girl named Ling Wu Siu Tsui comes to his rescue in the nick of time. It turns out later that she is the fox spirit, and that she saves Ling so as to return a past favor. As they spend more and more time together, Tsui starts to fall for Ling. The Po family has secured a large order of New Year print. To ensure the work can be finished in time they have to hire a large numbers of female workers. Lau Sum Yu applies for the job, but her real intention is to look for the man who was unfaithful to her sister, never knowing that she would later be caught in a love triangle with Ling and Jit. Another terrible Hong Kong historical series, just instead of comedy there are supernatural wuxia elements now to form cringe around.   Overall Rating: 5/10

Jie Mei Xin Niang [姐妹新娘] (Finished 1/35) Tags: Romance More than 20 years ago, Yin Li Ying and her pregnant mother were cruelly abandoned by their father Yin Zhen Tian when they were young, but to satisfy their own selfish desires, they were with Li Ying's mother's good sister and popular star Shen Xiu Qin. Yin Li Ying, who was abandoned by her father, lived a hard life with her mother. The younger brother born to her mother also died of hunger and cold. Her mother cried and blinded her eyes. Planning for revenge, she studied hard, worked hard, and chose screenwriting as her major in college. She knew that her revenge plan would begin after graduation. Senseless shic inevitably means it's a Chinese series. Glad it's revenge drama, so can dump it safely early.   Overall Rating: 5/10
