In the absence of outstanding works Hammer Session! was the most memorable.

1. Sungkyunkwan Scandal  [성균관 스캔들] (Finished 1/20) Tags: Historical, Comedy, Romance, Youth Kim Yun Hee is a smart, responsible young woman with an independent drive. Since her father passed away, she has worked to support her family but has also managed to do well in her studies. When her younger brother's illness worsens, and their family is in danger of being evicted from their house for lack of money. In her desperation to support him, Kim Yoon Hee decides to take the men's only national exam under her younger brother's name and disguises herself as a boy. On the day of the exam, Kim Yun Hee meets Lee Seon Joon and becomes friends. Lee Seon Joon comes from a privileged background and also possesses good looks. He is also arrogant. They both pass the national exam, and she has to share a room together with him at Sungkyunkwan University while hiding her true nature. There, she becomes friends with the playboy Goo Yong Ha and rebellious Moon Jae Shin. Crossdressing plague reached dorama. Leaving it for those who care.   Overall Rating: 5/10

2. My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho  [내 여자친구는 구미호 ] (Finished 1/16) Tags: Comedy, Romance, Drama, Supernatural Cha Dae Woong is a carefree university student who dreams of becoming a famous actor. He is an orphan whose wealthy grandfather Cha Poong and single aunt Cha Min Sook take care of him. However, Dae Woong and his grandfather always bicker because of Dae Woong's careless spending and career choice. One day, Dae Woong visits a temple and accidentally sets free a Gumiho, nine-tailed fox, who was trapped in a painting for 500 years. While running away in fright, Dae Woong severely injures himself, but the Gumiho, who took the form of a beautiful woman, saves him. In exchange, the Gumiho then asks him to help her become human and teach her how to act like one. As time goes by, their mutual relationship grows deeper as they start to fall for each other. As I see it, kdrama is doing so much romance that it starts to borrow similar plots first from other asian drama and now from manga and anime. Supernatural or cyborg girlfriend is a wide spread anime/manga concept, so I'm fed up with it already. Dry and primitive.   Overall Rating: 5/10

3. Sao Chai Hi-Tech  [สาวใช้ไฮเทค] (Finished 1/22) Tags: Comedy, Romance Nol Ratsamee is a heartbroken, woman-hating, completely introverted, angry, handsome young man. His former girlfriend screwed him over and left him for his best friend, and took his money. His depressive state and views on love and women garner the attention of his younger sister, who is very concerned, so she teams up with her bubbly/cheerful best friend Reuangrin Narokmon to find him a girl and to make him be ‘happy’ again. Reungrin moves into their home as a maidservant to get close to Nol, to know his habits and likes, so that she can play his matchmaker. But a problem arises, and Reuangrin begins to fall for Nol. If you like to watch something retarded, this is a perfect choice.   Overall Rating: 5/10

4. Wanida  [วนิดา] (Finished 1/16) Tags: Historical, Comedy, Romance In the 1940s, two families— the noble yet poor Mahasak family and the newly wealthy Wongwiboon family—are at odds. Wanida, the beautiful and strong-willed daughter of a loan shark, Dao, crosses paths with Mejar Prajak Mahasak, a kind-hearted man from the Mahasak family. Initially disliking each other, their fate takes a turn when Prajak's brother Lek borrows money from Dao but fails to repay it. Dao demands Lek's marriage to Wanida as payment, but Lek flees, leaving Prajak to marry her instead. Their chaotic marriage unfolds from there. Typical old lakorn with selling into marriage.   Overall Rating: 5/10

5. Too Late to Say I Love You [来不及说我爱你] (Finished 1/36) Tags: Military, Historical, Romance, Drama Yin Jing Wan, a young woman from a wealthy merchant family, saved a young man on a train who was escaping from a rivaling warlord manhunt. When she returned home, her parents betrothed her to a childhood friend, but her fiancee was put into prison in Chengzhou for smuggling firearms and illegal Western drugs. Jing Wan decided to go to Chengzhou to rescue her fiancee. But she did not know this trip would completely change her life. It's probably the best Respublican China drama so far, but it does not make me hate this period less and I'm still far from satisfied with it.   Overall Rating: 6/10

6. Ngao Hua Jai  [เงาหัวใจ] (Finished 1/16) Tags: Romance, Drama Wisawade received an email from Wainick, his half brother, to come home immediately. The export and import weaving factory that Wainick was taking care of was having problems. Wisawade was the eldest son of Wimala and a rich resort owner in Southern Thailand. After Wisawade's father died, he left him a fortune. Wainick looked up to his older brother like a father figure, Wisawade was his idol. Wisawade was surprised to learn that his brother tricked him into returning home because he needed help convincing their mother to accept Anchisa, a girl he liked. The problem is she was just a worker in the factory and a widow with a son. Wisawade knew the woman was trying to catch his brother. When Wainick brought Anchisa to meet his older brother, Wisawade was surprised to see how much she resembled his college sweetheart and the love of his life, Arusa. Painful memories of her betrayal were still haunting him. He is now furious because Anchisa is denying knowing him and claims to be someone else. So he sets out to prove her true identity and get his revenge on her; all the while, having to deal with his younger brother protecting her as the woman he loves! Typical lakorn, moreover, with revenge.   Overall Rating: 5/10

7. Gloria  [글로리아] (Finished 1/50) Tags: Music, Romance, Drama, Melodrama Gloria is an intense tale of people who are fiercely devoted to surviving their rough lives, focusing in particular on the life of a nightclub singer, Na Jin Jin, who braves the difficulties of her work to provide for her mentally handicapped older sister, Jin Joo. She finds an unwavering source of strength and support from her loyal childhood friend, Ha Dong Ah, a third-rate gangster with a big heart. Jin Jin also meets a potential love interest in Lee Kang Suk, the president of Double Sharp Entertainment, who has his own problems to face as the illegitimate son of an entrepreneur. Can't appreciate a series with just SOL and no normal concept around it (unless there are some breathtaking actors involved). Survival or romance aren't ones. As for me, it's done by lazy incompetents and so it can only be marked as a waste of time .   Overall Rating: 5/10

8. Kularb Rai Narm (2010) [กุหลาบไร้หนาม] (Finished 1/13) Tags: Romance, Drama Nantawadee and Nucharee are sisters with the same father. Their grandmother doesn’t accept Nantawadee’s mother because she’s a bar girl. Grandmother tries to ask to adopt Nantawadee, but her mother refused, so Nantawadee has to grow up among the bar girls. When her father is dead, Nuanjai, Nucharee’s mother intends to share some inheritance to Nantawadee, but she gives the condition that Nantawadee must move to live in her grandmother’s house. Nantawadee accepts to move in and pretends to be good to her new family, but in her mind, she doesn’t like her grandmother and Nuanjai. And she’s also jealous of Nucharee, she tries to steal everythings that belongs to Nucharee. Finally, she can steal Lieutenant Sarat, Nucharee’s fiance to get married with her instead. Later, Nadda, the bright-futured ambassador’s secretary comes close to Nucharee and fall in love with her. When Nantawadee knows that Nadda is richer and better than her husband, she tries to divorce her husband and approachs Nadda. Based on ancient story, so ofc primitive and artificial.   Overall Rating: 5/10

9. Hammer Session!  [ハンマーセッション!] (Finished 3/11) Tags: Comedy, Youth Two prisoners managed to escape after the police truck carrying them crashed. One of them is a gangster. The other, called Otowa Yonko, is a con artist who cheats money from criminals or terrorists. Accidentally, Otowa Yonko then becomes the new teacher for the nearby high school, under the new name Hachisuka Goro, and according to a deal of "Hammer Session" with the headmaster. Wow, one more GTO wannabe. But this time it's again rather cheezy and artificial, with familiar cases, so not worth a masterpiece even though actors are nice.   Overall Rating: 6/10

10. A Weaver on the Horizon [天涯织女] (Finished 1/36) Tags: Historical, Romance The life story of Huang Dao Po, a woman who revolutionized the Chinese textile industry during the Mongol conquest of the Song dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan dynasty. The oh so familiar palace intrigues centered on a woman. Such concepts bring me zero joy or use.   Overall Rating: 5/10

11. Haruko’s Japanese Language Class [日本人の知らない日本語] (Finished 3/12) Tags: Comedy, Youth Kano Haruko, a fashionable shop assistant featured in magazines, dreams of becoming a high school teacher. When her former teacher offers her a chance to teach Japanese to foreigners for three months in exchange for a recommendation, she becomes a trainee at a Japanese language school. There, she teaches nine unique foreign students, including an Italian anime fan and a Swedish ninja enthusiast, while pursuing her goal of teaching at a high school. It's not educational, entertaining or meaningful, so can't really recommend it - too unreasonable and artificial for me.   Overall Rating: 6/10

12. I Am Legend [나는 전설이다] (Finished 4/16) Tags: Music, Law, Romance Jun Seol Hui recently divorced after realizing that she deserved to be treated better by her high-flying lawyer husband, Cha Ji Uk, and his arrogant family. Determined to get her life back on track, she returns to her rock band roots, becoming the leader of the Comeback Madonna Band. Her bandmates are fellow 'ahjummas' who have personal problems of their own, and together they search for happiness and personal fulfillment through music. Kim Jung Eun is among the better half of Korean actresses, so it could be worse. There's actually not much music here, it's more like background and theme for marketing, while the rest is same aimless fuss as always.   Overall Rating: 6/10

13. Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku [夏の恋は虹色に輝く] (Finished 6/10) Tags: Comedy, Romance Taiga Kusunoki is a less than popular, tsundere, second-generation actor. Although he is the son of the famous and popular actor, Kotaro Kusunoki, his career is far below the level of his father's. Taiga develops an inferiority complex due to the huge difference between his image and his father's popularity to the point that his management company struggles to find work for him. Due to his lack of roles, he spends his days with Keita Ueno, a fellow second-generation actor with a similar plight as Taiga. As fate goes, the two friends go sky diving one day and Taiga loses control of his parachute, landing himself in a tree several miles away from his destination point. Shiori, a beautiful, cheerful woman, rescues him. Laughing away all her worries, Shiori is the exact opposite of Taiga and a huge fan of his famous father. Past the middle, and it still does not work well. There's no strong core, and romance is not convincing. Don't remember comedy here at all.   Overall Rating: 6/10

14. Suay Rerd Cherd Sode [สวยเริ่ดเชิดโสด] (Finished 1/15) Tags: Comedy, Romance Khwanuma is the heiress of a millionaire. She's a pretty, rich, snobby, picky and emotional model. Because she doesn't like to do her family's business, she trusts Worawit, her cousin to take care of her family's business. She doesn't realize that Worawit who she trusts the most is trying to swindle her. She happens to meet Thanop who she thinks is just an irritating food delivery boy. They quarrel with each other whenever they meet each. Synopsis already means I'm not compatible with emotional psychotic characters and constant quarrels, and I'm not staying for weird comedy.   Overall Rating: 5/10

15. Endless Love [愛∞無限] (Finished 1/15) Tags: Romance, Melodrama Liang Jing Hao and Song Rui En fell in love despite their social difference. Soon, they were engaged to be married. However, their happy union was shattered when he discovered that her philanthropic father was the driver who killed his mother in a hit and run years ago and the cause of his father's suicide on their wedding day. The devastated Jing Hao chose to disappear rather than exposing the crime committed by Run En's father. When he resurfaced years later Rui En had to choose either moving on with her life as he did with his or fighting for his forgiveness and saving their love. Simplistic Taiwanese romance melodrama that's not outstanding, so not worth sticking around unless like some character.   Overall Rating: 5/10

16. Theppha But Maya [เทพบุตรมายา เทพธิดาจำแลง] (Finished 1/17) Tags: Comedy, Romance Rawin, a playboy, a guy who has a lot of ‘girlfriends’ or a guy who deceives a lot of women. Kwan is a girl who disguises herself into several characters to test him– to see if he loves her truly because they are getting married. Pure silliness.   Overall Rating: 5/10

17. A Story of LaLa's Promotion  [杜拉拉升职记] (Finished 1/32) Tags: Business, Romance, Drama Du Lala is an entry-level employee at a small marketing firm. She managed to catch the attention of Wang Wei, marketing director at DB (a large firm), during a career fair though she left a funny yet disturbing impression on HR. She is extremely naive in relationships and tries to see the good in everyone. Lala's greatest attribute is she tries to befriend her coworkers, who are also trying to gain rank and pull one over her. Throughout the entire series, Lala matures as an individual seeking her position and value in the DB. Wang Wei is the marketing director of DB. In the beginning, Wei holds a prestigious position in both the firm and the industry. He is known for his notorious charismatic skills as a playboy. After meeting Lala and seeing her endearing though sometimes frustratingly naive ways, he changes and attempts to build a stable life just for her. He does have many secrets with regard to his past, one involving his ex-wife, Daisy. He loves to constantly tease Lala though he truly loves her. Newly employed girl struggles and grows at work - that's a very banal premise that I've seen at least a dozen of times, so there's nothing new here, and I see no great actors or realism to linger.   Overall Rating: 5/10

18. Single Princesses and Blind Dates [单身公主相亲记] (Finished 1/30) Tags: Romance Le Tong Tong had her grand wedding all planned out, and her relatives were all on standby for the big day. Then, she suddenly found herself single when her boyfriend dumped her. Not a woman who would be defeated by a minor problem as to not having a groom, she and her two friends embarked on a mission to find a husband through series of blind dates. Stupid competition premise just could not turn into anything meaningful, and all the confucian dressing scene cuts only reminded how I dislike Chinese cinema.   Overall Rating: 5/10

19. Mioka [美丘-君がいた日々-] (Finished 1/10) Tags: Youth, Drama, Family Taichi, a university student, meets Mioka, a spirited girl who lives freely. They fall in love, but Mioka reveals she has an incurable brain disease with no treatment. Despite her worsening condition and limited time, Mioka embraces life fully, while Taichi chooses to love her unconditionally and bear witness to her journey. Terminal condition is one of the fattest red flags. I dumped better series with this concept already. Start with the suicide attempt is another big red flag in its coffin.   Overall Rating: 5/10

20. Zhong Wu Yan [鍾無艷] (Finished 1/19) Tags: Romance A re-imagining of the story of Zhong Wu Yan in which she lives in the 21st century. Wu Yen is intelligent and compassionate, but she lacks one thing that her fiancé really cares about: Beauty. And despite her numerous success in saving him from being overthrown from his father's company, he nonetheless prefers the beautiful Xia Ying Chun when dust settles. So it becomes a mystery to her friends and family as to why she still sticks around her good for nothing fiancé.  Ming Dao freaks me out, as usual. It manages to be even more stupid that usual.   Overall Rating: 5/10

21. GM~Odore Doctor  [GM~踊れドクター ] (Finished 2/10) Tags: Medical A brilliant general medicine doctor dreams only of becoming a famous dancer. He returns to Japan to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry only to find out the agency he signed up with was a sham. He stays in Japan and works part-time in a run-down GM center solving baffling medical mysteries. All the while he plans for his dancing comeback. Sadly, it's just a better version of Dr.House as it's all about making diagnosis of rare cases by an extravagant doctor.   Overall Rating: 6/10

22. Juunen Saki mo Kimi ni Koishite  [10年先も君に恋して] (Finished 2/6) Tags: Romance, Sci-Fi The story focuses on 26-year-old Rika, a single editor who is unskilled in love. The story starts when a man appears before her, telling her that he is her husband from 10 years in the future. He informs her that she will meet the young version of himself in a few days, but begs her not to marry him. All this sci-fi stuff with time shifts etc is so alien to me that can't really continue.   Overall Rating: 5/10

23. GOLD [ゴールド] (Finished 11/11) Tags: Drama Yuri Saotome is a charismatic beautician who runs a major sports gym and aesthetic salon. Her older brother died in an accident just before his opportunity to achieve a gold medal at the Olympics, so she chose to marry a wrestling gold medalist. After giving birth to four children, she and her husband broke off their marriage, leaving Yuri to raise the kids by herself. With their excellent genes, three of them have been raised as possible candidates for the next Olympic games.  Finally a decent suitable role for Amami Yuki. I treated series as King Lear expecting FL to get mad and fail miserably due to all the wrongness of her ways to make children into olympic champions. But I was wrong, so there's no moral, only promotion of harmful practices.   Overall Rating: 5/10

24. Moteki [モテキ] (Finished 2/12) Tags: Comedy, Romance Moriyama plays a temp worker who has never had any luck with women. One day, he suddenly starts getting invitations from several beautiful women, and he finds himself confused about how to deal with this new experience of having a "moteki" (a period when one is very popular and attractive to others). Just unreasonable harem situations, so probably for the youth only.   Overall Rating: 5/10

25. Freedom Fighter, Lee Hoe Young [자유인 이회영] (Finished 1/5) Tags: Action, Historical A four-part drama produced for the 100th anniversary of the occupation of Korea by Japan. Freedom Fighter, Lee Hoe Young will be the third and final instalment of a series of dramas by KBS that focus on noblesse oblige and famous individuals who sacrificed much to provide for their fellow countrymen. Lee Hoe Young was an independence fighter who donated his savings and started a school for soldiers and scholars in China, but was later captured and tortured by the Japanese. Kimura Junpei is a Japanese reporter that he meets. Sadly, it's more like Korean Secret Agents, historical version. Totally unbelievable and unreasonable.   Overall Rating: 5/10

26. Pieng Jai Tee Pook Pun  [เพียงใจที่ผูกพัน] (Finished 1/12) Tags: Romance, Drama This lakorn is based on a novel by Kingchat. Suer and Mook had known each other since young age, they grew up together and had unsaid promise of undyingly loving each other but their separation was inevitable since Mook's father had to move abroad for his career. They eventually got together because Mook had to return to Thailand for a funeral, and it was then that they met after almost 10 years. Their happiness wasn't easily earned, there were many people wanting to take advantage of Suer's fortune, and had to get Mook out of the way.  Petty characters and their antics make it borderline unwatchable.   Overall Rating: 5/10

27. Growing Through Life [摘星之旅] (Finished 1/30) Tags: Drama Hoi Sing and his mother Ho Wai Sum runs a domestic appliance manufacturing factory (Sing Moon Tin Electrical Appliance) that have been left by his father. Hanson’s uncle Hoi Leung, a money-minded businessman seeks any opportunity to acquire Sing Moon Tin. Albert's wife Cheng Ming Chu and daughter Hoi Mei Si intercede the acquisition plans as they value the importance of family since the business belongs to the family and that Hanson would like to maintain Sing Moon Tin. Through persuasion Liza and Macy convinces Albert to put the acquisition on hold. However, a business opportunity arises, Albert places a spy Fong Lai King in the factory to cause mishaps. To persuade Albert in giving up on the business plan, Wai Sum decides to reveal a long-kept secret to him. Hanson invites his friend Chung Lam Tai to join the factory so that he no longer has to fight alone for the family business. Withholding the trust in the friendship it does not cross Hanson's mind that Linus would betray him such that his friend is a wolf in sheep skin. Hanson's fiance Chok Yiu Kwan cancels the wedding all of a sudden and gets betrayed by Linus. Then, the cold reality eventually forces Hanson into the fiercest commercial wars.  Hong Kong version of big family, but with another family rivalry, betrayal and revenge. Still of zero interest.   Overall Rating: 5/10

28. Can't Buy Me Love  [公主嫁到 ] (Finished 1/32) Tags: Historical, Comedy, Romance, Family Set during the Chinese Tang Dynasty, the spoilt Third Princess of the Tang Emperor, the beautiful Princess Chiu Yeung can be most unreasonable, and as such, no-one wants to marry her. The Kam family is the largest gold manufacturer in Beijing, but when defrauded, their business runs into financial trouble. The goldsmith store’s manager, Ting Loi Hei, suggests to the family’s 2nd son Gum Do Luk and 3rd son Gum Do Sau that the brothers consider becoming potential suitors of the Princess, in hopes that the alliance would resolve their financial crisis. In order to save their family business, Do Luk agrees to the match. The princess initially resists, but soon comes to the conclusion that it is a far better fate, than being betrothed to the unsavoury Tibetan king. When joining her new family, with personal servants in tow, the Princess proves to be both domineering and arrogant, regularly inciting conflict among its members. Can Princess Chiu Yeung be stubborn enough to win the heart of her new husband?  Hong Kong historical comedy inevitably means overwhelming stupidity again.   Overall Rating: 5/10

29. Four Gifts  [女王不下班] (Finished 1/15) Tags: Romance, Life The Zhang family has four daughters. When their mother passed away, she left behind four special gifts for each of her daughters: Scarf, Mirror, Suitcase, and Pen. The daughters don’t have the slightest idea of what these gifts mean. Their dad confessed that according to their mom, they will only understand the significance of these gifts when they experience happiness. But what is happiness? This is the mystery that the four daughters seek to find out. Dedicated queens fight hard in the workplace, but how do they find a tough enough man worthy of being their other half? Four daughters show off as the best in what they do and get into relations. Pretty boring and directionless.   Overall Rating: 5/10

30. The Fugitive: Plan B  [도망자 플랜 B] (Finished 1/20) Tags: Action, Mystery, Comedy, Romance During the Korean War, a vast amount of money disappeared. Now, some 60 years later, the money has reappeared, leading to a frantic chase across the globe. Jin Yi is a seemingly innocent woman who has hidden motives for approaching Ji Woo. Her plans are complicated by an unexpected romance developing between them, as well as the numerous pursuers hot on their trail. Kieko is a famous Japanese singer who also gets tangled up in a relationship with this man. Little do they know that her father Hiroki, apart from being a businessman, is a powerful yakuza. In this love triangle, who will finally win the love of Ji Woo? Ugh. Like super agents meet detective.   Overall Rating: 5/10

31. Gakeppuchi no Eri [崖っぷちのエリー] (Finished 1/9) Tags: Comedy "Gakeppuchi no Eri" describes the turbulent life of Eriko, who has been extremely poor since childhood, due to the debt left by her parents. Despite constant misfortune, she aims to achieve happiness and money by moving to Tokyo to pursue life as a manga artist. Seriously dislike works about poverty/debts/luck, and this is just pushing the same button over and over and over.   Overall Rating: 5/10

32. Fall in Love (2010) [爱上女主播] (Finished 1/29) Tags: Romance, Drama Raised in an orphanage, kindhearted news anchor Dan Ping never intended to compete with anyone, and certainly not with her long-lost sister Zheng Nan. Anchors at the same TV station, Dan Ping and Zheng Nan, both fall in love with producer Yi Po, but his heart belongs to Dan Ping. Smart, beautiful, and ambitious, Zheng Nan can't accept losing to someone lesser. Having experienced setbacks in love, she devotes herself to getting ahead in her career at all costs, including betraying her own sister.  It's too simplistic so that same things are repeated multiple times directly within mere minutes. I'm tired being taken for an idiot, plus I see zero good stuff in here.   Overall Rating: 5/10

33. Grudge: The Revolt of Gumiho  [구미호: 여우누이뎐] (Finished 1/16) Tags: Historical, Fantasy, Melodrama, Supernatural The legendary gumiho or nine-tailed fox, Koo San Daek, leaves her husband after his betrayal renders her unable to shapeshift. She takes her nine-year-old daughter, Yeon I, who has yet to gain the ability to use her gumiho powers, to a village in order to protect her. As Yeon I turns ten, her physical transformation begins, putting her in increasing danger of being discovered by her neighbors. Second Gumiho work in the season, , but even more cringeworthy with the addition of revenge.   Overall Rating: 5/10

34. Sawan Saang [สวรรค์สร้าง] (Finished 1/12) Tags: Drama Nakrop Payakracha, the young president of Tiger King corporation, is a cruel man who cares for no one but himself. He lacks a heart and excels in business. One day, Eau, a security guard at Tiger King, becomes disabled from an injury incurred while doing his duty. Nakrop fires him because he has no tolerance for weaklings. Eau becomes despondent worrying about the family he has to raise, his mother, his sister Ounjai and his little son Ou. So, he decides to kill himself by standing in front of Nakrop’s car during a race, forcing Nakrop to unintentionally hit Eau. Eau dies while Nakrop sustains a serious head injury and goes into a coma. When he wakes, he has some memory loss and his personality is completely changed. He is no longer cruel, no longer greedy, no longer ambitions. He turns into a laid-back guy, goodhearted, and considerate of others. He does not care for the company or remembers how to operate it. This terrifies his mother, Khun Ying Nayika , who raised him to be fierce like a tiger. She demands that Nakrop behave the way he used to and order's his assistant, Thong Tiew, to change him to how he was before. She claims “My child is a tiger! Not a dog who will move aside to let anyone pass by.” As Nakrop resists his mother's influence and evolves into a better person, Ounjai comes after him to avenge her brother’s death.
